How water treatment with UV light works

UV technology: Safe and gentle

A certain amount of uncertainty is bound to pop up when you hear of radiation, especially in connection with industrial and drinking water. In fact, the use of UV radiation in water treatment is not only completely safe, but also a healthier and more hygienic and environmentally friendly alternative to chlorine and chemical additives. Strictly speaking, we are not talking about radiation, but about water treatment with UV light, which successfully deals with potentially harmful microorganisms. We utilise this UV technology for our disinfection systems in private, commercial and industrial applications.

How UV disinfection works

UV disinfection is a purely physical process whose natural mode of action is modelled on the sun. Chlorine was the most important disinfection process for many decades. Due to the undesirable formation of so-called organo-halogen compounds and the increasing decline in acceptance of chemical substances in the food chain, attention turned to alternative disinfection processes. UV disinfection was identified as the optimal solution. Ultraviolet light in the UV range is the key for untreated pure water. It changes neither the natural taste nor the mineral composition, meaning that the taste, smell and colour of the water remain unchanged.

How UV light works

The basic disinfection effect of ultraviolet light on microorganisms is based on the effect of high-energy UVC light. UV light with a wavelength of 254 nm is used for optimum effect. It damages the DNA of bacteria, viruses and microorganisms in the water and inactivates them in a matter of seconds. Pathogens and potential environmental destroyers can no longer multiply.

We offer optimised solutions for water purification with UV light for private, municipal and industrial use, from drinking water and re-use water to industrial and process water. Various designs and dimensions can be combined with optional extensions, such as our high-resolution TFT display, as well as perfect customisation to individual customer requirements. . Our UV professionals are happy to help with anything pertaining to water filtration with UV light. We look forward to receiving your enquiry!
